Safe Harbor Recruiting
Every day, hundreds of children in Florida are victims of human trafficking. Many will come into foster care and will need a special home.
Family Support Services of North Florida (FSS) is recruiting responsible, loving, single adults to provide a “safe home” for a child who has been the victim of sexual exploitation. Safe Home parents will foster a victimized child and make a difference in his or her life.
Safe Home parents will receive specialized training and a monthly stipend. FSS will provide children with crisis intervention services as well as medical, dental and mental health care.
For Safe Home qualifications and information, contact: eddie.encarnacion@fssnf.org or 904-421-5864.

GRANT TO HELP CHILDREN LEARN
This is an OPINION Editorial from the Florida Times-Union
December 10, 2012
"Applause is due Family Support Services, the nonprofit organization that provides many child protection services previously performed by the Department of Children and Families.
The agency, which had already received a $500,000 federal grant, recently received a $250,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Family Support Services of North Florida is the only agency in the nation to receive two grants related to improving local early education programs.
Family Support Services is the lead agency for foster care, adoption and family preservation in Duval and Nassau counties.
It works with early education providers and others to provide quality early education programs and expand the number of child care facilities participating in the certification process.
Since the implementation of the early education project last October, the number of foster children in quality child care centers has increased by more than 100 percent, according to a release from Family Support Services.
This is an example of a fine private-public partnership."
